A system that leaves families behind

Raising a child with autism, Down syndrome, a learning disability, or a physical disability in South Africa is made harder than it should be by a system that is fragmented, inconsistent, and under-resourced. EduWave Village was built in response to this.

🧩

Fragmented, uncoordinated services

Families navigate dozens of disconnected providers — therapists, schools, specialists — with no coordination between them and no single place to find what they need.

📋

No standardised facilitator training

Educational facilitators do some of the most important work in our communities but have no standardised certification pathway, no professional recognition, and no peer support structure.

Delayed intervention

Long waiting periods for assessments and therapy mean critical developmental windows are missed. Families are left waiting while their children need support now.

👩‍👧

Parents navigating alone

There is no structured guidance for parents. No shared resource. No community. They are expected to figure it out on their own, often while exhausted and overwhelmed.

🔥

High caregiver burnout

Without proper support structures, facilitators and parents burn out. Turnover is high, consistency suffers, and ultimately it is the children who pay the price.

📊

No shared progress record

A child's therapy, school support, and home activities happen in complete silos. No one has the full picture. Progress gets lost in handover notes and informal conversations.

“I started EduWave Village because I saw first-hand how isolated families feel when they are trying to get support for their children — and how invisible educational facilitators are, despite doing some of the most important work in our communities. We deserve better. Our children deserve better.”

Built from lived experience

EduWave Village was founded in South Africa by someone who has seen first-hand the gaps that exist for families of children with access needs — and for the facilitators who support them. What started as a personal frustration became a mission to build something better.

We are a social enterprise. That means we believe that doing good and being financially sustainable are not in conflict — they are the same goal. The families we serve deserve a platform that is properly funded, properly built, and here to stay.

Every child with access needs deserves consistent, structured support
Educational facilitators are essential professionals who deserve recognition and development
Parents should never have to navigate the system alone
Technology should make access easier, not harder
